ICESTA has completed the factory acceptance test (FAT) on two 40-ton evaporative-cooled freshwater flake ice systems bound for Australia, where they will support temperature control in large-scale concrete pours. The shipment marks another turnkey concrete cooling delivery by ICESTA into a high-heat, salt-spray-corrosive operating environment.
System configuration: automated from ice making to delivery
Each system pairs a 40-ton evaporative-cooled freshwater flake ice machine running at 1.67 tons per hour, 24/7. Ice drops into an insulated storage unit managed by a PLC-controlled system that holds and releases ice on demand, maintaining supply even during peak daytime demand.
A built-in raker prevents ice from caking and enables forwarding as required. Screw and pneumatic conveying deliver ice to any point on site, with nearly zero manual labor.
Many concrete projects across Australia face combined pressures of 42°C-class heat and coastal salt-spray corrosion. Crews have historically restricted pours to midnight hours; even then, heat-driven cracking can trigger rework and major cost overruns.
ICESTA’s system for this delivery was custom-engineered at the material and structural level for these conditions. The flake ice is clean and dry — no dripping water — helping keep the concrete mix stable. Insulated storage and PLC automation reduce ice loss and lower labor costs.
With over 20 years in the refrigeration industry, ICESTA provides one-stop turnkey concrete cooling — from equipment design and manufacturing to on-site ice delivery. For ready-mix plants, precast yards, and mass-pour projects facing comparable hot-climate conditions, ICESTA supports selection based on daily ice demand, ambient temperature, inlet water temperature, storage method, and automation requirements
