Project Background
Shuanghui Group is China' s leading integrated meat processor, producing fresh pork, low-temperature meat products, and frozen prepared foods. In meat mixing, tumbling/marinating, and raw material holding, large quantities of stable, hygienic, and dry flake ice are required to control product temperature and inhibit microbial growth. Conventional flake ice machines suffered from evaporator rust, high ice moisture content, and difficult cleaning – failing to meet Shuanghui' s strict Food Safety Management System (FSMS) requirements.
ICESTA Solutions
ICESTA customized five independent 5-ton/day food-grade flake ice machines for the Zhengzhou Shuanghui project. Each unit includes:
1. All-stainless evaporator: 304 stainless steel, no plating, corrosion-resistant and easy to clean.
2. Stainless ice scraper: precision machined for uniform ice flakes.
3. PLC intelligent control system: remote monitoring, fault alarms, auto start/stop
The system uses R404A refrigerant, with compressors, expansion valves, and other core components from international brands. Flake ice dry and non-sticky – can be fed directly into mixers without crushing.
1. Enhanced food safety – All-stainless construction allowed the system to easily pass Shuanghui’s annual supplier audits.
2. Increased productivity – Instant flake ice supply eliminated purchased block ice and manual crushing, saving 2 man-hours per shift.
3. Simplified maintenance – Only periodic scraper seal replacements required; zero corrosion-related repairs.
4. Scalability – Five independent units support on-demand operation: partial shutdown during low season, full capacity during peak.
